Luck O’ The Irish

St. Patrick’s Day will be here tomorrow and I plan on leaving little green footprints all throughout my room and messing it up a bit as well as having that feisty little leprechaun leave a note to the children.   They always get a kick out of that each year!

Last week and today we worked on our St. Patty’s Day writing activity, “If I Caught a Leprechaun!”

THEY LOVED IT.  I gave them a choice, they could either make up a story, or list steps on how they would catch a leprechaun.  Most children decided to write the story.

This is when their imaginations can run wild and they had loads of fun!  Some of the stories were really funny!

I usually make a cute packet for them to write their stories in, but I found this freebie this year and loved it.  So just wanted to give a shout out to © Lisa Lienthal 2013 ( I honestly cannot remember how I found this activity, but I’m sure if you google or go on Pinterest you’ll see it)!

Also, I received the BEST St. Patrick’s Day present from a student this morning.  Irish Soda Bread ingredients in a MASON JAR!!! (I have an addiction to Mason Jars- I used them as favors at my wedding, use them as drinking glasses, put items in them, plants, etc.)

Shaving Cream Fun

Yes, every now and again it’s ok to have some fun! We love writing our new Fundation words in shaving cream. Today we practiced our fluency drills for Fundations. Trust me, if you haven’t done this before, it’s not as bad/messy as it may seem. It washes off their hands super easy, comes right off the table ( I usually use a dry paper towel first to get the majority off first and then use a Clorox wipe to clean), and it makes the room smell really good too!
