Read Across America – Dr. Seuss

I made four worksheets for Read Across America, celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday this March!  I took four of his books:

Mr. Brown Can Moo!  Can You?

There’s a Wocket in my Pocket

One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish

Green Eggs and Ham

Dr. Seuss

I took words out of the first couple of pages of each of the books and left blanks for the children to be creative and come up with their own Dr. Seuss writing to go along with the book of their choice.   This wasn’t fully my idea at all.  My wonderful partner actually came up with the idea, I just created the sheets (that you can find on my TpT store).

Enjoy!

Graphic Organizers and Video Shorts

I finally finished!!!!  Please see my TpT posting on Graphic Organizers/Video Shorts to go along with it.

Video Shorts and Graphic Organizer- Klein's Class

My 6th graders LOVE these.  Whenever I start a new comprehension strategy I always introduce it with a Pixar Video Short to go along with the strategy we will be discussing.  While they are watching the Video Short, they take notes on the graphic organizer and we discuss it in depth after.

This really makes them look at it differently and breaks up the monotonous of just reading a passage or book and learning that strategy.  They then will know how to apply it to the different text types that we do with that strategy.

Enjoy!

Video Shorts & Graphic Organizers

I found something a while back on the internet about Pixar Video Shorts on Youtube and graphic organizers to go along with them to practice different comprehensions strategies.  I realized the graphic organizers weren’t what I wanted/not good enough, and some of the video shorts didn’t work either.

I complied a list of my own and made the graphic organizers to go along with it  I am in the process of making them and they will be available on TpT shortly! Stay tuned!

Here is an example….

Leveled Literacy Intervention

I am using the Leveled Literacy Intervention reading program for the 1st time this year.  I am using it for 1st,2nd & 3rd grade.  I will be posting pictures shortly of how I organized it all and discussing how it is used in my remedial reading classroom.  I made a schedule I printed in color, laminated and put on my board.  The kids, and myself know what is to come – how long is should take, and it’s just a really good reference to follow and get the little ones used to so we all know what to do.  Here is a little peek of what the printable looks like that you can purchase at my TpT store!  Enjoy! Level 1 & Level 2 Fundations – I Can Statements

Fundations is great in my opinion.  If the child gets it, it can really benefit them.  I teach remedial reading so I do Double Dose Fundations and I like putting up my I Can or We Can statements on the board each day for the children to see what we are doing in Fundations – BUT…. Fundations doesn’t have I Can statements in the teacher’s manual, so I made my own!  Please take a look and visit my TpT store to purchase them!!!  Enjoy 🙂
